Patrick is leading a masterclass for the first time here in Flanders.
He is a leading clown and teacher in the field of contactclown and playing with and for people with dementia. His passion for music (he worked for example with Bobby McFerrin) is a great source in his clownswork.
He is from Dutch origin and lives and works in Norway. As an international renowned teacher he gives training programs that are of great value for the clowns play in institutions. It is an honour to have him here!

The clown takes a chance and a risk. If you work with people with dementia it is necessary to work together to create a ‘custom-made art’ moment, an impact. Together with your clown partner but also with the "butler" (health care personell in the institution). They are the key to meet the stars in the best way. This workshop is a lot about this concept (5-stars meeting with the stars) and is filled with tools to make this possible.
My favorite way is music and interactive singing. How to create a safe base in which you and your partner feel safe and build harmony and contrast. We shall certainly work on the physical clown because this is the clearest and most readable way to reach the target group.
We are going to celebrate failure. A clown who works with people with dementia is an ‘ambassador of failure’. With failure I mean not the "produced failure" but the things that happen when we for real want to do it perfectly.
I will adjust this training to the needs of the specific group.
